reindeer food

a few days ago, we made reindeer food for christmas eve. santa and his reindeer will see the glittery food as they fly overhead. the kids are so excited to sprinkle it on the lawn making a pathway to our house. we combined oats (main source of protein - very important), cinnamon (to smell good), sprinkles (for a treat), and big sparkle confetti (because they make everything awesome.) i found cute, tiny mason jars to fill with the reindeer food and made tags with instructions. perfect as gifts for little kids!

get your crafts done soon, only a few more days until christmas!

happy holidays! hope your days are merry and bright!

christmas calendar

last year i made a christmas advent calendar to help the kids countdown the days until christmas. they were too little to recognize the numbers, but we are working on it this year.

each brown paper bag has a tag inside with something to do that day to celebrate the christmas season. it's fun having an "activity" to do together everyday.

we even hid our elf on the shelf in one of the bags for the kids to find.

here it is hung on the wall. this project was easy and fairly cost effective.

 craft ingredients:
large burlap
small brown paper bags
thick jute twine (red and tan shown)
tags to write numbers 1 thru 25 (outside of bags)
tags to write christmas activities (inside of bags)
hot glue/hot glue gun
wrapping paper roll

directions:
lay your burlap out and glue a wrapping paper roll at the top of the calendar to be able to hang with string (make sure the burlap completely covers the wrapping paper roll). glue each bag on the burlap with equal space in between bags. glue one tag tied with twine to each bag. write holiday activities to do together to put in each bag (example: drive around looking at christmas lights!). string the twine through the wrapping paper roll to hang. add a bow at the top! happy christmas countdown!
