reindeer food

a few days ago, we made reindeer food for christmas eve. santa and his reindeer will see the glittery food as they fly overhead. the kids are so excited to sprinkle it on the lawn making a pathway to our house. we combined oats (main source of protein - very important), cinnamon (to smell good), sprinkles (for a treat), and big sparkle confetti (because they make everything awesome.) i found cute, tiny mason jars to fill with the reindeer food and made tags with instructions. perfect as gifts for little kids!

get your crafts done soon, only a few more days until christmas!

happy holidays! hope your days are merry and bright!

christmas calendar

last year i made a christmas advent calendar to help the kids countdown the days until christmas. they were too little to recognize the numbers, but we are working on it this year.

each brown paper bag has a tag inside with something to do that day to celebrate the christmas season. it's fun having an "activity" to do together everyday.

we even hid our elf on the shelf in one of the bags for the kids to find.

here it is hung on the wall. this project was easy and fairly cost effective.

 craft ingredients:
large burlap
small brown paper bags
thick jute twine (red and tan shown)
tags to write numbers 1 thru 25 (outside of bags)
tags to write christmas activities (inside of bags)
hot glue/hot glue gun
wrapping paper roll

directions:
lay your burlap out and glue a wrapping paper roll at the top of the calendar to be able to hang with string (make sure the burlap completely covers the wrapping paper roll). glue each bag on the burlap with equal space in between bags. glue one tag tied with twine to each bag. write holiday activities to do together to put in each bag (example: drive around looking at christmas lights!). string the twine through the wrapping paper roll to hang. add a bow at the top! happy christmas countdown!

lightpaper

this is a pretty cool invention. it is called lightpaper, an incredibly thin sheet of ink and tiny LEDs. "it's a way to print light and apply it to nearly any surface, in any shape, and for any situation."
see the article here.

could you imagine the possibilities here for invitations, banners, gift tags, prints... you name it! i want to get my hands on this!

painted favor bags

sometimes i like to get my paint out and go at it like a little kid. i was playing around one day and thought about painting favor bags. i think it would be cool to have personalized painted favor bags at your wedding or party. the possibilities for these muslin bags are endless.

these bags could go along with the vintage garden theme seen on invites and thank you cards in my etsy store. put the seeds of the bride's favorite flower and "watch the couples love grow."
have us create the bags and a custom tag to explain how and when to plant them.

bridal party favors done!

my love of banners

you can never have too many banners in your life.
we are always celebrating something and it's not a party until there's a banner!

my little peanuts holding a banner made for uncle ty's birthday

these baby shower banners are available for sale in my etsy store

a combination of two different banners is fun and gives depth.
the more the merrier!

made this one for a couple's baby shower.
the soft palate was perfect for a gender neutral party

this is a photo of my booth at an arts festival this fall. i put together a confetti banner because i use confetti on a lot of my marketing materials. it was super easy. i just strung different colored circles on a string and ta-da! confetti banner!

custom banners are available for parties, the holidays, anything!
you can email me at jessa@madebyjessa.com or contact me through etsy.
thanks and happy thursday!

therapeutic mail

one of my favorite things is sending and receiving snail mail. sometimes i think i keep the post office in business by myself. hopefully the recipient is smiling when they see mail from me. so for your holidays this year, let's share the love and make our cards and packages look awesome.

why does it feel so good to send out a bunch of pretty packages?

joy + matthew's fall wedding

these invitations for joy + matthew's wedding were fun to design! using their clemson university colors with simple and elegant fonts resulted in an invitation that says fall celebration! they used a lighthouse graphic on their save the dates so it was a nice idea to add them to the wedding invite too. a big thanks to joy for letting me help gather friends and family for her harvest-inspired florida wedding!!

wishes + thank you tags

we're proud to say we've added two lovely products to the etsy store!

these simple and stylish wish cards are the perfect activity for a bridal shower.  they are a wonderful way to express your hopes for the happy couple, and a very thoughtful gift to the couple when you're planning the party! what a delight to read all of your guests' well wishes!

when it comes to parties, it's the little details that matter! thank your guests by tying these tiny thank you tags onto your party favors.  they're simple and so sweet with the perfect message. the wish cards and thank you tags are available separately on the etsy site but coordinate perfectly for your shower!

also available-- baby shower themed wish cards and thank you tags!

jude's notecards

my mom asked me to design custom stationery for an old neighbor and great friend of our family a few months ago, and this is the finished product! this was back in march when all the snow insanity was happening, so i took the opportunity to enjoy a little bit of spring with these sweet yellow poppies. these simple, vintage style notecards will be coming to the etsy store soon!

theresa's bridal shower invitations

last summer i had the delight of designing invitations for my close girlfriend's bridal shower. theresa is so lively and bright and i wanted her invites to reflect that. i love the mixture of coral and aqua for summer... and the mixture of fonts gives the invites a very playful feel. these uniquely sophisticated invites have the perfect pop of floral with the monotoned poppy graphic!

genna's shower invitations

these bridal shower invitations were a blast to design and create. the ivory, gold, and black color palette is classic, yet playful with an added dash of confetti. the postcard (and all the fun bits inside) are held in one little package that says "it's a party!" i love that you can see all the information before opening it. i had so much fun making these. thanks to kacki for letting me be a part of genna's bridal shower! :)

chris + nick's golden birthdays

with the help of my mother-in-law, i have been able to design more and take on more made by jessa projects... and that makes me so happy! This invite below was one of the first design projects after my "baby break." my sister was celebrating her husband's and his brother's "golden" birthdays (they turned the age of the day they were born on). with a few key words from my sister, i designed this fun, youthful gatsby invitation fit for a gentleman.

we made taxi cards to hand out at the end of the night to remind out-of-towners how to get home.
my sister and her sister-in-law put together a mustache piƱata filled with cigars, tiny soco and captain morgan bottles, along with mouthwash, axe body spray and hair gel, and of course -- candy. :)
it was a great night! happy belated birthday chris and nick!

finley's first birthday

we had finley's 1st birthday party a couple weeks ago and I was excited to make little girl invitations after doing two years of boy invites. coral and navy were the colors.

the back with (excitement!)

all her "friends" showed up! we even made them party hats.

it was a really fun time. thanks to everyone who came to celebrate!

catie + brian | wedding invites

a mixture of vintage and elegance...

these wedding invites were made specially for catie + brian and their reception spot that has pine exposed beams and stone. catie wanted to show the rustic feel for her event and invite wrapped like a package with twine was the perfect "woody" element to include. we used browns and tans as her accent color and navy to match the wedding colors.

a postcard was used for the guests to rsvp

the earthy, main font pairs nicely with the classic, delicate script font.

congratulations to catie + brian!
only a few days away!

rustic birdcage

in the craziness of the couple weeks after jj was born, i managed (somewhere between diaper changes and feeding) to construct this birdcage for a vintage, barn wedding. it was used for wedding cards and small presents. i love the combo of branches and wire. my past birdcages have been made solely out of wire, but the branches gave this one sturdiness and a rustic feel. it can hold about 200 cards! i added love birds and ribbon in the couple's wedding colors to match the rest of the decor for the big day. it's the little touches that make your day memorable.

more fun projects from the past couple months coming soon!

sidewalk sale!

we are having a sidewalk sale! after spring cleaning, we found a bunch of stuff that might be junk to us, but could be treasure to another. stop by this saturday, may 5 to see the goods. it's happening on maple street, conshohocken, pa... we are hoping the whole neighborhood participates.

see you there!
